The National Association of Securities Professionals is a national nonprofit membership-based organization of minority and female professionals in the securities industry. NASP brings together professionals who have achieved recognition in the industry as broker-dealers, asset managers, public finance consultants, investment bankers, bond counsel, commercial bank underwriters, investors, and plan sponsors. The organization serves as a resource for its members and others in the industry by: sharing information about the securities markets; functioning as a repository for information regarding current trends; and sponsoring educational seminars and networking opportunities. Including Baltimore-Washington, NASP will now have a total of eight chapters across the country. The organization's seven other chapters are based in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, New York and Philadelphia.
With the U.S. Congress, the Council of Institutional Investors, the Government Accounting Standards Board and other important institutions based here, the Baltimore-Washington region clearly is an important financial and economic hub. In terms of the financial services industry, many pension funds are also located in this area. It is for these reasons that NASP is opening a chapter here, so that our organizational goals reach every corner of the industry. |
